For the best document writer available; that is similar to Microsoft Word , Open office is the choice. It may be downloaded at:

The Open Office will record in ODF format. That format is compatible with any document writer worldwide. ODF is the only format that is multi compatible with other writers such as Microsoft Word.
For Linux, Libre Office is similar; and, just as well.
